Craig Stewart steps into the cage to fight Thomas Tams on the debut show Capital Punishment in two weeks. We caught up with him about his upcoming fight.1. You are fighting Thomas Tams at Capital Punishment in Edinburgh on the 13th of May, as you were due to fight another opponent what do you know about Tams?
I have seen him fight Dave Brown at Cage Kombat 11 in Edinburgh, hes a big guy with heavy hands, but ive been there a million times, he doesnt pose a threat
2. Given the late notice of the fight, will your training change in the next two weeks?
Not really, I train hard for any situation that may crop up in a fight, so im ready for anything Thomas has to bring.
3. You have been in the fight game for a number of years, how did you get started?
I seen it on the TV and found out my mate John Fleming had started it, I went along to watch an event, and that was me hooked.
4. You club Born Warrior, Livingston is producing a good crop of emerging fighters, whats your typical sessions like?
A typical session is hard and intense, we have a small close team of talented members, where everyone has made a commitment to train as hard as they can, whether competing or not, the guys (and girls) are great, they really help push you to your limits.
5. Do you have any goals in MMA?
To be honest im not to sure of my goals, ive just got a passion for stepping into the cage and competing
6. Your known as a strong powerhouse with a good top game, what elements do you think are your strongest points and which areas have you been making progress on?
Obviously my stand up is my strongest point, but over the last year and a half my wrestling and ground game have improved immensely, i just havent had the opertunity to show it yet.
7.What do you expect of your fight on the 13th?
I'd like to take this oppertunity to thank Thomas for taking the fight after dave pulled out. I know hes been wanting to step up to pro for a while. but he better be ready, because everyone knows I come to fight, and when the cage door shuts hes gonna have a war on his hands, and theres no doubt in my mind whatever happens in this fight, my hand will be raised high at the end of it.
